Resources

I’m a huge fan of technology and spend a lot of time thinking about how it affects our lives.  It is impossible in 2008 for our personal and professional lives to remain untouched by the latest and greatest advances in technology.

But what about our spiritual lives? Has technology improved (or perhaps diminished) your relationship with God?

Websites like BibleGateway, for example, make it very easy to find that bible verse you vaguely remember from Sunday School – in dozens of different translations! Sermon podcasts and pastor blogs are not that uncommon anymore and GodTube is an unfathomably large library of Christian video content.

These resources, of course, build on the advances in sanctuary technology made over the last decade or so: projectors, powerpoint, advanced sound (for show and for the hard-of-hearing), etc.

Last week Bruce Reyes-Chow, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA), posted a cartoon on his blog about the intrusion of technology in the pew and I thought it was worth sharing here:

So, at what point does the adoption of cutting-edge technology diminish rather than improve our spiritual lives?
